How to Perform Sat Kriya

To begin, sit in a comfortable position with your spine straight. You can sit on the floor or on a chair. If you are sitting on the floor, place yourself in rock position (on the heels). If you are sitting on a chair, place your feet flat on the ground with your spine is fully erected.

Stretch your arms up over your head with your hands touching and your arms hugging your head.

Interlock your fingers, palms together and index fingers pointing right up towards the sky. This mudra is called jupiter lock mudra. Women should cross fingers keeping their left thumb on top.

Pivot slightly your head down close your eyes and roll them up towards your third eye.

Take a deep breath in and as you exhale, start chanting the mantra "Sat Nam" out loud:

- Chant the sound "Sat" (sound: "sutt" - putting emphasis on the "T") while pulling the belly button in toward the spine.

- Release the belly as you chant "Naam"

Chant like this for 3 minutes, then inhale and squeeze the muscles tightly from the buttocks (like a kegel excercice) all the way up the back, past the shoulders. Mentally allow the energy to flow all the way to your head through the "crown" or 7th chakra. 

Continue breathing deeply for 3-5 minutes fully present in the moment. After you have finished deep breathing, bring both hands to your heart center and close your eyes. Visualize white light emanating from your heart and filling up your

You may build the time of the kriya to 30 minutes, allowing for a long relaxation (almost equal to the kriya) afterwards.
