Manifesting with the New Moon: A Personal Journey

Since I was a young girl, I've always felt a deep connection to the moon. As a woman, the moon's cycles seemed to echo the rhythm of my own body, particularly with the 28-day cycles that mirror the lunar phases. This connection grew even stronger during my first pregnancy when my grandmother shared an age-old wisdom: she told me how, in her day, women would count the moons—about twelve—to estimate their due date. This practice, rooted in nature and tradition, further solidified my bond with the moon and its phases.

Nature has always been my sanctuary. I’m fortunate to live just two minutes away from a serene, earthy path, where I walk every day, embracing the beauty of the natural world. I find immense joy in hugging trees, feeling their ancient energy, and petting my dog, who always accompanies me on these walks. This daily ritual helps me feel grounded, a part of something larger, more meaningful.

My connection to the moon took on a new dimension after I completed an introductory course in astrology. I learned that the new moon is a powerful time for manifesting intentions. It's a moment when the sky is dark, the moon invisible, representing a blank slate—a perfect time to set new goals and plant seeds for the future.

With the recent new moon in Virgo, which fell on September 3rd, and the start of a new school year, I’ve found myself reflecting deeply on my routines. As my children are still in school, I tend to align my life with the school calendar, rather than the traditional year-to-year approach. The new moon's timing felt like a cosmic invitation to reassess and reset my daily habits, with a particular focus on routines that nourish my soul and elevate my life.

In this process of realignment, I’ve intentionally removed many unnecessary distractions—leaving several WhatsApp groups and unsubscribing from email newsletters that cluttered my mind and day. I’ve also carefully curated my family’s and my personal activities, ensuring that my agenda leaves ample space for rest and recharging. It's easy to become overwhelmed by the plethora of advice on how to live a healthy and slow life—too many rituals, imperatives, activities, and self-imposed "must-dos" that can ironically lead to stress, rather than the tranquility we seek.

Now, I’m focusing on simplifying my health routines. Instead of cramming my day with countless "healthy" practices, I’m returning to the basics—nourishing foods, sufficient sleep, mindful movement, and moments of stillness. The goal is to strip away the excess and focus on what truly matters, allowing space for the natural rhythm of life to flow without constant interruption.

Manifesting Intentions with the Virgo New Moon

The Virgo new moon is particularly potent for setting intentions related to health, wellness, organization, and self-improvement. Virgo’s earthy energy encourages us to look at the details, refine our daily habits, and establish routines that support our well-being. Here’s a simple, soul-nourishing ritual that I’ve found to be incredibly powerful during this time:

1. Create a Sacred Space:

Begin by finding a quiet place in your home where you can be undisturbed. Light a candle, preferably in a calming scent like lavender or sandalwood, to create a peaceful atmosphere. Arrange some fresh flowers or greenery nearby to honor the earthiness of Virgo.

2. Reflect and Write:

Take a moment to reflect on the areas of your life that feel cluttered or overwhelming. What routines or habits no longer serve you? What do you wish to manifest in the coming month? Write these down in a journal, allowing your thoughts to flow freely.

3. Set Your Intentions:

Once you’ve identified your priorities, write down your intentions clearly and concisely. For example, “I intend to create a morning routine that includes time for meditation and gratitude” or “I release the need to fill my day with unnecessary tasks and focus on what truly nourishes my soul.”

4. Meditate with a Japa Mala:

If you have a Japa Mala, this is a perfect time to use it. I personally recommend using a Mala made with gemstones like green aventurine or jasper, which align well with Virgo's grounding energy. As you move through each bead, repeat a simple mantra that resonates with your intentions, such as “I am grounded, I am balanced” or “I create space for what truly matters.”

5. Close with Gratitude:

End your ritual by expressing gratitude for the clarity and guidance you’ve received. Blow out the candle, feeling the energy of your intentions sealed in the silence of the new moon.

This Virgo new moon, I’m embracing routines that elevate my spirit, shedding the excess, and making space for what truly matters. I invite you to join me in this practice of mindful manifestation. In a world brimming with endless possibilities, let’s choose simplicity, presence, and a deeper connection to the natural rhythms that guide us. Together, let’s manifest a life that’s not just filled, but fulfilled.
