From Who You "Should" Be to Who You Truly Are: A 7-Step Path to Lasting Change

From Who You "Should" Be to Who You Truly Are: A 7-Step Path to Lasting Change

Have you ever felt like you’re living a life designed by someone else?

Perhaps you’ve followed the "shoulds"—the career you should have, the role you should play in your family, the person you should be. Over time, these expectations become the stories we tell ourselves about our identity. But deep down, there is a spark that knows you are meant for more.

time to rise summit

I’ve spent the last few days immersed in the Time to Rise Summit by Tony Robbins, and the insights have been profound. (If you’ve never listened to Tony, I cannot recommend him enough—his energy for transformation is unmatched!)

The summit focused on a crucial realization: Your life is controlled by the story you tell yourself. If you want to change your life, you have to change your story and update your identity.

The Path to Your True Self

Tony shared a powerful 7-step process called "The Path" to help bridge the gap between where you are and who you are truly meant to be. As a coach, I see these steps as the ultimate roadmap for any woman going through a major life transition:

  1. What do you really want? Not what your parents, boss, or society want. What does your heart crave?

  2. Find and face the truth. Be honest about where you are right now without the excuses.

  3. Resolve and create a massive action plan. Commitment isn't enough; you need a map.

  4. Do what’s hard. Growth happens outside the comfort zone.

  5. Develop a daily practice. Success is buried in your daily routine.

  6. Raise your standards and measure more often. What we track, we improve.

  7. Life is a gift. Celebrate, appreciate, and give back.

The Secret Ingredient: Why Habits are Your Superpower

While Tony Robbins provides the fire and the vision, the actual "bricks and mortar" of your new life are built through habits.

I’ll be honest: I used to think habits were boring. I associated them with rigid schedules and a lack of freedom. However, during my Life Coaching Master’s degree, my perspective shifted entirely. I realized that habit building is a superpower.

We all have habits already. Scrolling on TikTok until midnight is a habit. Going for a morning run is a habit. The question is: Are your current habits serving the woman you want to become?

If you want a lasting identity change, you cannot rely on willpower alone. You must design systems that make success inevitable.

Atomic Habits in Coaching

In my coaching practice, I lean heavily on the principles from Atomic Habits by James Clear. (His newsletter is also a must-read for anyone interested in personal growth!) Clear teaches us that we don’t "rise to the level of our goals," we "fall to the level of our systems."

By starting with tiny, "atomic" changes, we can bypass the brain’s resistance to change. Over time, these small wins accumulate. Every time you perform a new, positive habit, you are casting a vote for the person you want to become.

How a Coach Helps You Walk "The Path"

It’s one thing to read about these steps; it’s another to live them. This is where coaching becomes transformative.

Transitions—whether it's a career change, a relationship shift, or a "mid-life" awakening—can feel lonely and overwhelming. My role as your coach is to:

  • Help you identify your true values (not the "shoulds").

  • Clear away the limiting beliefs that keep you playing small.

  • Map out your objectives with a clear action plan.

  • Show you just how shining and capable you truly are.

  • Create the habits that will sustain your new identity long after our sessions end.

Are You Ready to Rise?

If you are tired of the old story and ready to step into a life that feels authentic, exciting, and yours, I would love to support you. You don’t have to walk "The Path" alone.
